Depressed?
Of course you are. You were told that you evolved from some primordial soup, and that your life has no real purpose. You were told to live life to the fullest, for tomorrow you might die and there's surely no such thing as the afterlife. And so you pursued sensual gratification in the arms of lovers, in the intoxication of drink, and in the adventure of travel. Though you've found what any person who has slept and drank and wandered their way through life has found, that after it all, you remain empty.
A deep, unquenchable hole remains in the pit of your soul. Made larger by the purposelessness of existence. Made hungrier by the lack of satisfaction any sensual encounter could offer. And made more desperate as the realization of your plight sinks in.
You are alone in this cold and cruel world. There is no purpose.
No one will ever truly understand you.
No one will ever realize your worth.
Yes, you are alone.
But you don't have to be.
Because you are not the byproduct of some accident, you are created with intent, and made for a purpose. There is a plan for your life, and what we do here with the time we are given, echoes in eternity.
That hole at the very center of you, cannot be filled with liquor. The longing for affirmation cannot be satisfied by the arms of ever changing lovers. That pit of despair cannot be redeemed by anything other than a personal relationship with a living saviour, who sacrificed his life so that you may live.
It is a cold and cruel world, but there is one who understands you, and knows you better than you know yourself. He realizes your worth, even if you don't.
He knit you together in your mothers womb.
Even the very hairs of your head are numbered, and a plan and a purpose for your life were made even before the foundations of the earth were laid.
You might be alone, now. But you don't have to be, ever again, for the rest of your entire life.
"...I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jesus of Nazareth, Matthew 28:20 NKJV
